Vienna streets

This is what caught my lens while tramping the streets of Vienna in December:

If you are keen on the merits of the straight line, the Hundertwasser Museum  and social housing complex are probably not for you.

Viennese baroque goes for straights and curves, but much of the contemporary architecture prefers just straights.

Nature fronts the built environment.

Feet up in Margareten.

Wheelchair access, but assistance needed with steps.

Line, contrast, texture and tone.

Frozen seedheads

Sometimes it's hard to choose between colour and monochrome.
These are early morning winter shots with hoar frost on seedheads by the River Thames in Oxford, England.
Does each image have a different emotional impact?

In the monochrome shot perhaps the soft focus gives an ethereal effect of eternal cold, whilst the colour background suggests emergent warmth about to make the frost 'melt, thaw and resolve itself into a dew'.
